ZAGREB: The bodies of three Egyptians were found in a river near the Croatian capital on Tuesday, two days after being reported missing when they went swimming, police said.
The three were reported missing by a friend who saw them last on Sunday when they went for a swim in the Sava river near Zagreb, a police statement said.
A search operation, that included firefighters and rescue services, was launched but police spotted and recovered two bodies from the river on Tuesday. Firefighters later recovered the third body, the statement said.
Croatia issued more than 5,500 work and residence permits to Egyptian nationals in 2025.
Egyptians rank as the ninth-largest group of foreign workers in the European Union country.
