ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Senate speaker and the country’s chief justice separately met Muslim World League Secretary-General Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss issues including religious coexistence and social cohesion.
Al-Issa, who also chairs the Organization of Muslim Scholars, addressed Senate leaders and representatives of Pakistan’s political parties during a meeting hosted by Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, the speaker of the upper house at parliament.
In a separate meeting, Pakistan’s Chief Justice Yahya Afridi held talks with Al-Issa on a range of intellectual and legal issues related to promoting religious coexistence and strengthening social cohesion.
Al-Issa is on a visit to Pakistan as part of the Muslim World League’s efforts to promote dialogue, moderation and cooperation across the Muslim world.
