MAKKAH: The first group of guests participating in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Hajj, Umrah and Visitation Program — which is being implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance — has visited the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Holy Kaaba Kiswa.
The visit was part of a cultural and educational program prepared by the ministry to enrich the guests’ experiences and show them the care and attention the Kingdom devotes to the Kaaba and its kiswa.
The guests were shown the stages that go toward producing the kiswa, beginning with the preparation and dyeing of natural silk threads, followed by weaving, embroidery, and stitching, and ending with the final assembly of the kiswa.
They also learned about the materials used in its production and observed the work carried out by specialized workers who have attained the highest standards of precision and craftsmanship.
The itinerary also included a visit to the complex’s technical and production departments, where the guests received an explanation of the technologies used in crafting the kiswa. They also took part in a symbolic weaving of a section of the kiswa, a practice that reflects the care, precision and attention devoted to the distinguished craft.
The visit, which formed part of the cultural and educational experience accompanying the program, also aimed at showing guests projects and services the Kingdom provides for the Two Holy Mosques and visitors.
