Saudi, Canadian defense ministers discuss bilateral cooperation

  • The meeting came as Canadian PM Carney held talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah

RIYADH: Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with Canada’s Minister of National Defense, David McGuinty, on Thursday.

The two reviewed Saudi-Canada relations and discussed bilateral defense cooperation, as well as regional developments and efforts to promote regional and international security and stability, Prince Khalid said in a post on X.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, ahead of official talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah on Thursday.

During the talks, the two sides signed three memoranda of understanding covering energy, the establishment of a Saudi-Canadian Coordination Council, and artificial intelligence investment and skills development.
