MADINAH: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has completed preparations to receive Umrah performers under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Guests Program for Hajj, Umrah and Visit.
The first group of this year’s program, comprising 250 male and female guests from 16 Asian countries, is scheduled to arrive in Madinah on Wednesday before traveling to Makkah to perform Umrah.
The move follows King Salman’s decision to host 1,000 male and female Umrah performers at his personal expense. The guests will arrive in four groups throughout the year.
The first group includes participants from Indonesia, Timor-Leste, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Singapore, China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mongolia.
The ministry has prepared a program for the guests during their stay in Madinah, including visits to sites and museums related to the Prophet Muhammad’s life and Islamic civilization, before they travel to Makkah.
