MINA: The Saudi health system has strengthened specialized cardiac care at the holy sites during Hajj by providing catheterization and cardiac surgery labs across several healthcare facilities.
This initiative, a result of advanced cardiac catheterization services and their expanding applications, aims to improve healthcare efficiency for pilgrims. It aligns with the Health Sector Transformation Program and the Pilgrim Experience Program to ensure access to specialized care during Hajj.
Cardiac catheterization is a modern procedure used to diagnose and treat heart and arterial diseases without traditional surgery.
It enables rapid treatment of heart attacks and arterial blockages, improves diagnostic accuracy in critical cases, and increases the chances of timely intervention while reducing complications among pilgrims.
Specialized cardiac services in the holy sites include catheterization and cardiac surgery at King Abdullah Medical City and catheterization services at Al-Noor Specialist Hospital, East Arafat Hospital and Mina Emergency Hospital 2.
The health system has also deployed more than 3,000 ambulances and emergency vehicles, 11 air ambulances, and 526 emergency response points, supported by over 7,700 field emergency personnel, as part of its Hajj healthcare readiness plan.
