ISLAMABAD: A Saudi delegation headed by Assistant Deputy Minister for Agriculture Affairs Dr. Sulaiman Al-Khateeb has visited Pakistan.
The Kingdom is supporting the “Green Pakistan” initiative, aimed at strengthening the country’s irrigation systems, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
The support will help Pakistan’s agricultural productivity — creating job opportunities, preserving the environment and enhancing food security — as part of efforts to advance cooperation in sustainable development.
The support will help the country’s water-use efficiency, expanding irrigated land, increasing production quality and quantity, diversifying crops and providing technical and training support to improve living conditions and create job opportunities.
The project covers 500 hectares and includes 10 center pivot irrigation systems, along with fertilization units, generators and power engines. It also includes a training program for Pakistani specialists in operation and management, benefiting recipients in Punjab province.
The support reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to assisting countries in addressing environmental challenges, reducing water waste and strengthening food security.
