Ithra opens registration for fifth Summer Youth Program

  • Aim is to provide young people skills for Kingdom’s creative industry
  • 4-week program runs from July 13 to Aug. 6 at Ithra’s headquarters

DHAHRAN: The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture has announced the opening of registration for its fifth Summer Youth Program.

Interested youth between the ages of 13 and 16 have until June 30 to apply. The four-week program will run from July 13 to Aug. 6 at Ithra’s headquarters in Dhahran.

“The Summer Youth Program is an intensive program which aims to introduce and expose the selected participants to the backstage of the cultural and creative industries by unveiling Ithra’s facilities and expertise, and by allowing the participants a rich experience of the finest the Center has to offer,” Ithra stated on its website.

The program offers young participants an immersive path into the cultural and creative industries by providing them with hands-on experience that strengthens their skills and broadens their horizons.

In a statement, Ithra emphasizes that participants would gain critical key skills, which include: “creative thinking, collaboration, analytical skills, as well as practical and life skills across a range of fields such as museums, literature and libraries, theater and performing arts, film and cinema, architecture, and creative design.

“It also features a diverse range of cultural experiences in fashion, music, and culinary arts.”

Through a series of programming designed to spark participants’ curiosity, including interactive workshops, participants will have ample opportunity to meet and engage directly with leading professionals and experts in the cultural sector.

There will also be guided tours within Ithra to provide behind-the-scenes insights into how this cultural institution functions, as well as local field trips to key cultural destinations to further enrich their learning experiences.

The program concludes with the Youth Craft Exhibition, a platform to showcase the participants’ creative achievements during their time spent at Ithra, and to highlight their growth and knowledge.

Since its launch in 2022, the program has received more than 3,500 applications. To date, 140 selected participants have embarked on this journey, with more than 18,000 learning hours overall.
