Saudi diplomat participates in consultative meeting in Islamabad

  • Prince Dr. Abdullah bin Khaled bin Saud Al-Kabeer meets Pakistan’s deputy PM

RIYADH: The director general of the General Directorate of Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in a consultative meeting on Tuesday involving Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkiye.

Prince Dr. Abdullah bin Khaled bin Saud Al-Kabeer met Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Muhammad Ishaq Dar, in Islamabad.

The parties discussed the latest developments in the region and ways to enhance joint coordination to ensure security and stability, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Pakistan hosted crucial talks involving American and Iranian negotiators in Islamabad over the weekend, after the parties announced a two-week ceasefire in the regional conflict which began on Feb. 28.

Negotiators failed to reach any agreement over Tehran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, and control of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor for international shipping that remains largely blocked by Iran.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday signaled that a second round of talks could happen in Pakistan “over the next two days.”
