RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Sunday summoned Iraq’s ambassador to the Kingdom Safia Taleb Al-Suhail over continued attacks and threats targeting Gulf states through drones launched from Iraqi territory.

During the handover of the protest memorandum to Al-Suhail, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Saud Al-Sati emphasized the Kingdom’s condemnation of the attacks originating from Iraqi territory against the Kingdom and Gulf countries and affirmed the importance of Iraq dealing responsibly with such threats and attacks.

The Kingdom will take all necessary measures to defend its security and protect its territories, he added.

Iraq became caught in the middle of the US-Israeli war on Iran, with Iran-backed militias launching attacks on US bases and diplomatic facilities in the region as well as on critical energy infrastructure.
