Pakistan to host Zimbabwe women for maiden tour featuring ODIs, T20Is in Karachi

  • ODI leg part of ICC Women’s Championship, T20Is to aid World Cup preparations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host Zimbabwe’s women’s team for their maiden tour later this month, with the visitors set to play a six-match white-ball series in Karachi, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Friday.

Zimbabwe will arrive on April 29 for the tour, which includes three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches, all to be played at the National Bank Stadium.

“Zimbabwe women’s team will embark on their maiden tour of Pakistan to feature in a six-match white-ball series,” the PCB said in a statement.

The three ODIs, scheduled for May 3, 6 and 9, are part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2025–29, which determines qualification for the Women’s Cricket World Cup. Pakistan are currently placed fifth with two points after playing one away series against South Africa earlier this year.

The T20I leg of the tour will follow, with matches scheduled for May 12, 14 and 15 at the same venue.

The series is also expected to play a key role in Pakistan’s preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.

Ahead of the global event, Pakistan are also set to participate in a tri-nation T20I series in Ireland, alongside hosts Ireland and West Indies, from May 28 to June 4.

Both teams will train in Karachi from April 30 to May 2 before the start of the series.
