LONDON: Syria and Jordan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening military ties.
The statement was made during a meeting in Amman between the Syrian Chief of the General Staff Maj. Gen. Ali Al-Naasan and Jordan’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti.
Huneiti emphasized Jordan’s commitment to supporting the Syrian Arab Republic in achieving security and stability and said its armed forces were ready to deploy resources to enhance national security and serve the two nations’ shared interests, Jordan’s official news agency, Petra, reported.
Several other senior officers from the two sides attended the meeting. They highlighted the importance of continued coordination in addressing regional challenges, especially in the areas of counterterrorism and drug smuggling, the report said.
