RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman has sent a cable of congratulations to Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul following his re-election, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The crown prince expressed his sincere congratulations and best wishes for the Thai leader’s continued success, as well as further progress and prosperity for the people of Thailand.
Anutin, a prominent political figure and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has played a key role in Thai politics in recent years. He previously served as deputy prime minister and minister of public health, gaining national prominence for overseeing Thailand’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and championing policies such as the legalization of cannabis for medical use.
His re-election comes amid a complex political landscape in Thailand, where coalition-building and military influence have long shaped governance.
Relations between Saudi Arabia and Thailand have improved significantly in recent years following the restoration of full diplomatic ties in 2022, opening the way for increased cooperation in trade, tourism and investment.
