RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Jeddah on Saturday, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation and expanding opportunities in football development.
The meeting reviewed ongoing collaboration between the Kingdom and FIFA, as well as prospects to further grow the sport at both grassroots and professional levels, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Saudi Arabia has in recent years deepened its engagement with FIFA as part of a broader push to position itself as a global sports hub, investing heavily in infrastructure, talent development and major international events under its Vision 2030 reform agenda.
The Kingdom has hosted a series of regional and international tournaments and has worked closely with FIFA on initiatives aimed at expanding football participation and commercial growth in the Middle East. Riyadh is also widely seen as pursuing an expanded role in global football, including potential future hosting ambitions.
The meeting was attended by Sports Minister Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal and Yasser Al-Misehal, president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.
