Where We Are Going Today: My Skaker – creative desserts in Jeddah

  • The “candy cream” fusion stood out for me, with its sweet, melted mixture layered inside the kunafa strands, giving each bite a rich texture

My Skaker, located in Jeddah’s Al-Fayha’a district, offers a focused menu centered around kunafa and a selection of creative desserts.

The natural kunafa with cream lets the combination of cheese, cream and other ingredients speak for itself. It stayed true to tradition, although I found the cream a little heavy if eaten alone.

The kunafa with cream and banana added a subtle contrast to the sweetness, while the one with cream, dates, and almonds gave a nuttier, denser finish.

The “candy cream” fusion stood out for me, with its sweet, melted mixture layered inside the kunafa strands, giving each bite a rich texture.

Kunafa varieties are available in small, medium, and large portions, which makes it easy to order for one or to share.

I also explored some of the other desserts on the menu. The Belgian chocolate with praline and roasted almonds, feuilletine chocolate with sour thyme, and truffles in chocolate or mango, each offered a distinct taste.

The cheesecakes, whether with red berries, blueberries, strawberries, or apple and caramel, were consistent in texture.

Of these, I preferred the berry options to be lighter, while the apple and caramel leaned heavily on sweetness.

The menu is concise, which works well because it allows you to focus on what to choose without being overwhelmed.

Portions are generous, allowing for sharing, and I ordered through the delivery platform, which made it convenient to enjoy at home.
