Where We Are Going Today: Ghusoun

Ghusoun offers a Lebanese dining experience on Ash Shati Street in Jeddah, centered on traditional flavors, with an Eid buffet that brings together a wide range of dishes from the oven, grill, and mezze table.

I began with items from the oven, including zaatar with labneh and cheese, both served on flatbread, and their shanklish, paired with vegetables and olive oil, reflecting a familiar Lebanese combination that is a must-try.

From the live saj station, the manousheh labneh and saj bread were freshly made and added a sense of movement to the space.

The cold mezze selection included batenjan moutabbal and warak inab, both consistent and authentic in taste. The tableh nayeh followed a traditional approach, while the shanklish appeared again in a different format, this time mixed with different vegetables and olive oil, giving variety within similar ingredients.

On the hot mezze side, makanek bel debs, cooked with pomegranate molasses, and kebbeh bel karaz stood out for their sauces, while rakakat jebni and cauliflower tahina worked as lighter options alongside the heavier dishes.

From the grill, I tried mixed meats and lamb chops, both served with the usual vegetable sides. The kabab kheshkash and arayess kafta also followed a familiar preparation style.

The buffet included rotating home dishes like kousa bil laban and seafood sayyadiyeh, which added diversity to the menu.

Desserts ranged from esh el saraya and knefe bel chocolate to pistachio baklava with ice cream and chocolate fondant. The variety allowed for sampling different items without feeling repetitive.
