RIYADH: King Salman has received a written message from Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq concerning relations between Saudi Arabia and Oman, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
The message was received by Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Elkhereiji during a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh with Oman’s Ambassador to the Kingdom Sayyid Najib bin Hilal Al-Busaidi.
The two parties looked at relations and discussed ways to enhance cooperation across various fields, the SPA said. Regional developments were also addressed.
The exchange came amid continued communication between the leaderships of the two countries.
The king and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also sent cables of condolence on Tuesday to Sultan Haitham regarding the victims of adverse weather conditions which have recently impacted Oman.
At least five people died in the sultanate this week after vehicles were swept away by floodwaters, authorities said on Monday.
Oman’s Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority said seven people were rescued after a vehicle carrying 10 people was swept away in a wadi in the Wilayat of Barka. The other three were later found dead.
