LONDON: A Moroccan civilian contractor working with the UAE armed forces has been killed while on duty in Bahrain as a result of an Iranian missile strike, authorities said on Tuesday.

The UAE Ministry of Defence said the contractor was killed during a routine mission and added that five of its personnel were also injured in what it described as the “brazen” attack. A statement expressed condolences to the contractor’s family and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.

Earlier, the Bahrain Defence Force reported a fatality among personnel operating alongside its military in response to Iranian attacks targeting the country since Feb. 28.

Several Bahraini and UAE personnel were injured while repelling the attacks, with most discharged from hospital after being treated for minor to moderate injuries.

The developments highlight the widening regional impact of the conflict, with Iranian strikes now directly affecting Gulf states hosting allied forces.

Bahraini authorities said their forces remain on high alert, continuing to defend their airspace, waters and territory.
