DUBAI: The UAE State Security Apparatus dismantled a terrorist network funded and operated by Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Iran. Members of the network have been arrested, the state news agency WAM reported on Friday.
The network had been operating in the UAE under a fictitious commercial cover and sought to infiltrate the national economy and carry out external schemes threatening the country’s financial stability.
The SSA said the network was laundering money to finance terrorism and threaten national security.
SSA affirmed that any attempt to exploit the national economy or civil institutions for terrorist or subversive purposes would be met with firmness and force.
They underlined a zero-tolerance approach to any external interference threatening the country’s security or stability.
Lebanon's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strongest condemnation of the terrorist plot that targeted the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement on X, the ministry commended UAE's security apparatus on its vigilance, and expressed the readiness of Lebanese authorities to cooperate in the investigations until the perpetrators are punished.
The ministry accused Hezbollah of orchestrating the plot and emphasized the Lebanese government's position on banning Hezbollah's military and security activities.
