RIYADH: King Salman issued a royal decree on Saturday for the establishment of Riyadh University of Arts, giving it its own bylaws, as part of a broader push to strengthen the Kingdom’s role in regional and global cultural sectors, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Prince Badr bin Abdullah, minister of culture and chairman of the Board of Trustees of Riyadh University of Arts, thanked the king and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their attention to cultural development, the SPA added.
The minister highlighted that the establishment of the university is part of initiatives under the National Strategy for Culture, which aims to develop cultural capabilities and empower national talent to meet rising demands across cultural sectors.
This aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which positions culture as a central pillar for reinforcing national identity, fostering international cultural exchange and encouraging creative innovation, he added.
Prince Badr also said that Riyadh University of Arts will aim for leadership and global recognition in arts and culture.
The university will work to develop cultural sectors and enhance their contribution to the Kingdom’s cultural, scientific, and economic landscape through advanced academic programs and research initiatives, he added.
