Iran’s new supreme leader wounded, likely disfigured, Hegseth says

WASHINGTON: Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba ‌Khamenei ‌is wounded ‌and likely disfigured, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ‌told ‌a news ‌briefing ‌on Friday.
Friday will see ‌the highest ‌number of ‌US strikes so far against Iranian ‌targets, US ‌Defense Secretary ‌Pete Hegseth ‌told ‌a briefing.

He added, the US will not allow Strait of Hormuz shipping to be contested. He said Centcom has designated an officer to complete investigation from outside Centcom to investigate the strike on the Iranian school.

Hegseth said US president Trump can decide how long he'd like to pursue US objectives in Iran and US has range of options on Iranian nuclear weapons.

"There is no clear evidence that ‌Iran ‌has placed ‌mines in the Strait of Hormuz," he said.

"The US is happy to partner with Israel, but our objectives are our objectives," he added.
