LONDON: British Special Envoy for Syria Ann Snow and Syrian Deputy Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Abdul Qader Tahan discussed enhancing security cooperation on Thursday.
The meeting in Damascus focused on counterterrorism, institutional capacity-building and support for the Syrian security sector, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
The two sides also discussed the situation in northeastern Syria, where government forces have been deployed after a ceasefire agreement in January with the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The discussion focused on developments in southern Sweida province, challenges related to displaced persons’ camps and detention centers, and humanitarian issues.
The Syrian government aims to strengthen collaboration with partner countries to address security challenges, particularly in counterterrorism and drug trafficking, the SANA added.
