Pakistan Television breaks 232-year old cricket record as it defends 40-run target against SNGPL

ISLAMABAD: A 232-year-old record in first-class cricket was broken Saturday when Pakistan Television successfully defended a 40-run target against Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited.
SNGPL, which was led by Pakistan test captain Shan Masood and included several other international cricketers, was bowled out for 37 to lose the four-day President’s Trophy game against PTV by two runs at Karachi.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Oldfield held the previous first-class record for the lowest successful defense when it defended 41 runs against MCC at the Lord’s Old Ground to win by six runs in 1794.
Masood was among three SNGPL batters who got dismissed for ducks in a sensational collapse at the National Stadium. Left-arm spinner Ali Usman picked up 6-9 and fast bowler Amad Butt grabbed 4-28.
SNGPL got a 72-run first innings lead when it made 238 in reply to PTV’s score of 166. SNGPL then bowled out PTV for 111 but Usman and Butt bowled unchanged and dismissed SNGPL in 19.4 overs.
