Asir artisans boost skills through professional training

  • Trainees completed a professional program, which covered craft skills, product marketing techniques, and strategies for achieving professional sustainability
  • Kingdom’s handicrafts sector is experiencing significant growth, evolving from a hobby and a means of preserving heritage into a vital economic sector that fosters entrepreneurship

ABHA: The Asir Development Authority, in collaboration with the Social Development Bank, implemented a series of training programs last year to qualify male and female artisans and link their skills to the local products market.

Several trainees completed a professional program this week, which covered craft skills, product marketing techniques, and strategies for achieving professional sustainability.

The authority noted that handcrafted products were showcased at Abha International Airport, turning handmade items into heritage gifts that reflect the region’s culture and reach a broader audience.

The Kingdom’s handicrafts sector is experiencing significant growth, evolving from a hobby and a means of preserving heritage into a vital economic sector that fosters entrepreneurship.

This transformation is driven by a clear institutional vision, particularly the enhanced role of the Saudi Heritage Commission.
