Saudi envoy hails FII Priority Asia 2025 in Tokyo

  • Event marks 70 years of Japan–Saudi ties

Tokyo hosted FII Priority Asia 2025 over the weekend, building on the momentum of the FII Institute’s annual conference in Riyadh.

Speaking to Arab News Japan on the sidelines of the event, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Japan Ghazi Faisal Saeed Binzagr highlighted the significance of the gathering and its timely alignment with a historic milestone in bilateral relations.

“Today I attended the FII Priority event in Tokyo as the ambassador of Saudi Arabia. It is a momentous occasion (that) comes as we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Japan.

“The timing of this event is impeccable, as it addresses the important topics of financing in Japan, Saudi Arabia, and globally. This initiative aims to foster the creation of the future we all aspire to achieve.

“There couldn’t have been a better event (to be held at this time) because the event explores how we can direct finance in Japan and Saudi Arabia and globally to be able to create the future that we all aspire for.

“It’s a very bold initiative. Today, we had the (Japanese) prime minister speak, and the minister of finance and the minister of economy and trade and industry. They delivered inspiring presentations, each emphasizing the potential and the opportune timing for the significant advancements that will activate an excellent economy.

“It presents a unique opportunity to engage with a dynamic economy like that of Saudi Arabia, particularly as you undertake a bold and ambitious multidimensional transformation.

“The dimensions present numerous opportunities across various sectors. Some of these opportunities are traditional, while others are emerging. Essentially, there is a substantial potential for all segments and sectors of the economy to collaborate in order to create a better and brighter future.”

This year’s FII Priority Asia 2025 was convened under the theme “The New Asia.” The summit positions the region as the “gravitational center of the global economy,” with Japan acting as a bridge between East and West.

While the conference focuses on investment, its scope is broader: to chart how Asia can lead humanity through a “new era defined by technological disruption, demographic shifts, cultural influence and sustainable prosperity.”
