Japan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia celebrates Japan Self-Defense Forces’ 71st anniversary

RIYADH: Ambassador of Japan to Saudi Arabia, Morino Yasunari, hosted a special reception at his residence on Saturday to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. 

The ambassador delivered a speech highlighting JSDF’s participation in the Gulf of Aden’s anti-piracy operations as well as its joint exercise in the Indian Ocean.

He added that Saudi Arabia is an important partner in safeguarding vital maritime communication routes for Japan and the international community.

The ambassador also highlighted the Kingdom’s participation in various education and training programs offered by JSDF, including the maritime escort program, stressing that the participation deepens the mutual understanding between the two countries. 

He concluded by discussing the shared values between Japan and Saudi Arabia, adding that Japan is committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of security and defense.

The reception was attended by Maj. Gen. Faisal bin Saeed Al Ghamdi as well as various government officials and diplomats.
