Jordanian forces evacuate sick kids from Gaza for medical treatment

LONDON: The Jordanian Armed Forces on Tuesday transported 20 sick children, accompanied by 58 family members, from Gaza for medical treatment.

It was the 17th group of children evacuated from the war-torn territory as part of the humanitarian “Jordanian Medical Corridor” initiative, which was launched in March by royal directive to support the Palestinian people and ease their suffering, the Jordan News Agency reported.

The children will receive treatment in Jordanian hospitals, with support from the country’s Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.

Since October 2023, Jordanian authorities have also sent more than 181 aid convoys, 7,932 trucks in all, to Gaza in coordination with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, the World Food Programme and World Central Kitchen.

In addition, the Jordanian Armed Forces has conducted 421 airdrops of aid since the war in the territory began, including 284 in cooperation with other countries.
