LONDON: The UAE delivered on Sunday the 249th convoy of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as part of “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3” to support the Palestinian people.
Over 195 tonnes of shelter materials and supplies were delivered to families to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s residents. The convoy carried 2,250 shelter tents on 15 trucks to urgently address the severe cold and rainfall in Gaza.
The UAE humanitarian team in Al-Arish prepared the aid convoy at the logistics center in the Egyptian port city for delivery to Gaza, the Emirates News Agency, or WAM, reported.
Fahad Saleh Al-Harthi, head of the team, emphasized that regular aid deliveries to Gaza address the growing humanitarian needs, particularly due to recent adverse weather conditions affecting Palestinian families.
The teams at the logistics center in Al-Arish work continuously to ensure the smooth flow of aid through reception, storage, preparation, and shipment management, he said.
“Maintaining the regularity of the convoys is a top priority to ensure the continued flow of humanitarian support to the people of Gaza at a time when they need every form of assistance,” he said.
Since the war erupted in Gaza in late 2023, the UAE has supplied over 20,000 shelter tents and ongoing convoys of food and medical supplies to people in the territory, WAM added.
