AL-AHSA: The Saudi Irrigation Organization has launched its 2025 National Greening Season in the Al-Asfar National Forest and Park in Al-Ahsa with the slogan “A hand plants, a land flourishes.”
The initiative aims to plant 100,000 trees during the season, as part of efforts to achieve the target of planting 2 million trees by 2030.
Al-Asfar Park was chosen to launch the season’s activities as it is one of the leading environmental projects fully managed and developed by the organization, which has worked on planting more than 600,000 trees at the site, which covers an area of about 21 million sq. meters.
The project relies on irrigation using treated water and an environmentally friendly infrastructure that includes 542 solar panels with a production capacity of up to 200 kilowatts, tanks with a capacity of 7,500 cubic meters, and irrigation networks extending for more than 682,000 linear meters, making it a national model in developing vegetation cover using modern and sustainable methods.
These efforts contribute to expanding vegetation cover, preserving biodiversity, raising environmental awareness, and reinforcing the culture of volunteerism to support the sustainability of natural resources and improve the quality of life in the Kingdom.
