French star Victor Perez joins Cleeks Golf Club ahead of 2026 LIV Golf season

  • The 3-time DP World Tour winner becomes first Frenchman to join LIV Golf as Cleeks solidifies 2026 Roster
  • Perez has steadily built his reputation on the global stage with key victories, including the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the 2022 Dutch Open and the 2023 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

DUSSELDORF: Cleeks Golf Club, one of the 13 teams that comprise the LIV Golf League, has announced the signing of French star Victor Perez to complete its lineup for 2026.

Perez becomes the first Frenchman to join LIV Golf, the pioneering league redefining the sport as it begins its highly anticipated fourth full season.

A natural fit for the team’s competitive ambitions and cultural edge, Perez, 33, adds top-tier talent and experience to the club’s 2026 roster comprising top athletes from Germany, Poland, England and France. Perez will make his LIV Golf debut in the 2026 season opener at LIV Golf Riyadh presented by ROSHN.

After turning professional in 2015, Perez has steadily built his reputation on the global stage with key victories, including the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the 2022 Dutch Open and the 2023 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. He also represented France on the international stage at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Off the course, the Frenchman is known for his personality, style and modern approach to golf — all qualities that align with Cleeks Golf Club.

“Joining Cleeks Golf Club for the 2026 season feels like joining golf’s next great chapter, as this club continues to push boundaries, perform at the highest level, and bring fresh energy and vision to the game,” Perez said. “The sport’s growth has been incredible, and LIV Golf’s innovation and energy are driving it forward. I’m excited to be part of that momentum and can’t wait to get started in Riyadh.”

Perez joins a team led by Germany’s two-time major winning captain Martin Kaymer, as well as Englishman Richard Bland and Polish star Adrian Meronk. A founding team of LIV Golf, Cleeks Golf Club began the 2025 season in strong form with Meronk winning the opening event at LIV Golf Riyadh. With Perez now among the ranks, the team has lofty ambitions for the 2026 season.

“There’s been tremendous interest in joining Cleeks Golf Club, and we’re thrilled to welcome Victor as the final piece of our roster,” said Kaymer. “With LIV Golf driving innovation in the game, we’re focused on building not just a stronger team but also contributing to building the next generation of global golf stars. Victor embodies the precision and passion that will help us forge that path.”

The signing of Perez aligns with the team’s long-term ambitions to combine performance with culture and fashion. In addition to staking a claim as a leading force on the field, Cleeks Golf Club has partnered with notable brands in the lifestyle space, launching collaborations with Brooklyn label Public Drip, renowned mixed-media artist Jacob Fellander, and The Art of Golf campaign, which invited digital artists to design golf bags to be displayed and used throughout the 2026 LIV Golf season.

“Victor is a world-class player who embodies everything Cleeks Golf Club stands for,” said Jonas Martensson, Cleeks general manager. “He has the talent, the mindset, and the style to elevate our team both on the course and beyond it. We’re delighted to welcome him into the Cleeks family.”

Perez’s debut for Cleeks is scheduled for the season opener in Riyadh in February amid excitement and expectation around the start of the 2026 season. Team unity and the arrival of a high-profile player establish fresh momentum and high aspirations for Cleeks in 2026.

Dubai Basketball endure home loss in EuroLeague against Virtus Bologna

  • The club enters the second half of the season with a 10–12 record

DUBAI: Dubai Basketball were beaten 80-72 by Virtus Bologna at Coca-Cola Arena on Thursday in round 22 of the EuroLeague, in a game where key individual performances made the difference.

The hosts remained competitive throughout, despite Virtus holding a slim advantage for most of the night. Dubai found rhythm in phases, particularly during the middle quarters, and stayed within striking distance until the closing minutes.

However, Virtus managed the decisive moments more efficiently and protected their lead late on.

Aleksa Avramovic led Dubai with 17 points, providing energy and shot-making that kept the home side in the game. His scoring run in the second half briefly shifted momentum and forced Virtus to adjust defensively.

Dwayne Bacon also made a strong contribution, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Dubai continued to battle physically on both ends of the floor.

Virtus were anchored by an outstanding performance from Saliou Niang, who recorded 17 points and 17 rebounds.

Dubai Basketball’s upcoming games will be decisive as the club enters the second half of the season with a 10–12 record. In February they face EuroLeague heavyweights Olympiacos and Real Madrid at home.
