Saudi deputy foreign minister discusses Sudan crisis with UN, EU delegates

DJIBOUTI: Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Al-Khuraiji met with EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, on the sidelines of the Second Consultative Meeting on Enhancing Coordination of Peace Initiatives and Efforts in Sudan, held in Djibouti.

In separate meetings, he also met with the UN Envoy for Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra, and US Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello.

During these meetings, they reviewed the latest developments in Sudan, explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, and discussed topics of mutual interest.

Saudi minister discusses peace efforts with Sudan leader

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia is committed to Sudan’s “security and stability,” the Kingdom’s deputy foreign minister told the chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council on Wednesday.

During the meeting in Port Sudan, Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji and Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan discussed efforts to achieve peace in the country and preserve its unity, Saudi Press Agency reported.

Al-Khuraiji said Saudi Arabia was committed to restoring security and stability in Sudan and preserving its territorial integrity.

The minister conveyed the greetings of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Al-Burhan.

Al-Burhan expressed his wishes for further progress and prosperity in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia has been leading efforts to end the war in Sudan which erupted in April 2023.
