Transport minister inaugurates new facility at Riyadh airport

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s minister of transport inaugurated a new 10,000 sq. meter freight facility at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on Wednesday.

Saleh Al-Jasser inaugurated the operations center of UPS contractor EIRAD at the airport’s Cargo Village.

Al-Jasser said the transport and logistics sector continues to expand in the Kingdom, boosting economic growth and reinforcing Riyadh’s position as a global hub, according to a press statement.

The facility allows for the processing of more than 3,000 packages per hour, UPS said, and promotes diversified economic development in line with Vision 2030.

The facility is expected to meet the Kingdom’s growing demand for air and land shipments, improving time-in-transit and boosting customs-clearance capabilities.
