Educational tour to inspire Jeddah youth in motorsports

  • The initiative aims to introduce Jeddah’s students to the world of motorsports

JEDDAH: The Saudi Motorsport Co. — the driving force behind the 2024 Formula 1 stc Saudi Arabian Grand Prix — on Tuesday launched an educational tour titled “Truck of the Future.”

The initiative aims to introduce Jeddah’s students to the world of motorsports.

Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and Saudi Motorsport Co., noted that the campaign would run in Jeddah province until March 4. It will include school and university visits where students will be made aware of career opportunities in motorsports.

Prince Khalid said: “We, at the Saudi Motorsport Co., understand the significance of leveraging motorsports to raise awareness about the wide array of opportunities it offers.”

He highlighted the Kingdom’s emerging status as a global hub for motorsports adding that he wanted to inspire Saudis, particularly youth, about the value of teamwork.

Prince Khalid pointed out that hosting major motorsport events such as Formula 1, Formula E, the Dakar Rally, and the Extreme E series in the country would expose young Saudis to new career paths they may not have previously considered.

The educational truck will provide students with information on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in relation to future technology, sustainability, and innovation.

By adopting a learning through play approach, visitors to the truck will be able to engage in interactive displays and hands-on activities focused on professional motorsports.

The campaign will target more than 2,000 students in Jeddah, with a particular emphasis on STEM subjects and their relevance to jobs in the sector.

In addition, project leaders will aim to instill values of sportsmanship, competition, teamwork, and safety among students.
