  • Organization’s efforts last year enhanced volunteer work by involving local communities in protecting and developing the reserve’s environment

RIYADH: Achievements by the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority mean the organization has taken significant steps towards its environmental goals.

Aligning with Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, as well as strategic targets for royal reserves and the authority’s own objectives, its efforts last year enhanced volunteer work by involving local communities in protecting and developing the reserve’s environment.

The authority also raised awareness among community members in accordance with best international practices, restoring biodiversity in natural areas, and increasing the extent and sustainability of vegetation cover. This underlines the authority’s pioneering role in achieving environmental sustainability for present and future generations.

Other achievements during 2023 included the removal of over 45 million kg of environmental waste from across the reserve and completing the planting of a million wild trees in Rawdat Al-Khafs to increase the green area and preserve natural resources. The authority was also honored for passing the initial stages of joining the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Green List.
