RIYADH: King Salman presided over a session of the Council of Ministers held in Riyadh on Tuesday focusing on key matters of national and international importance.
The meeting commenced with discussions on the success of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, underlining its potential to enhance regional cooperation.
The Council expressed appreciation for the official visits to the Kingdom by the President of Indonesia, the President of the Republic of Korea, the Prime Minister of Singapore, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia. These visits resulted in several agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at elevating cooperation relations across various fields.
The evolving situation in Gaza and the escalating violence it is witnessing were addressed during the session. The Council reiterated Saudi Arabia's unwavering stance against any form of civilian targeting and called for urgent intervention to halt military operations and de-escalate the situation to prevent potential repercussions on regional and global security and stability.
The Kingdom's selection as the host for the twenty-sixth session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in 2025, along with its re-election as Chairman of the Executive Council, was recognized as an endorsement of Saudi Arabia's leadership in the international tourism sector.
The Council extended congratulations to the winners of the Kingdom's Award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World, an initiative aimed at promoting joint efforts in environmental protection, sustainable development, and addressing contemporary and future challenges.
The Supply Chains and Logistics Services Conference held in Riyadh was noted for facilitating the signing of agreements between the public and private sectors. These agreements are expected to enhance sector efficiency and broaden investment opportunities.
The Council of Ministers also reviewed its agenda, including topics that were studied by the Shura Council. Insights from the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, the Council of Political and Security Affairs, the General Committee of the Council of Ministers, and the Council of Experts of the Council of Ministers were considered during the session.
