ISLAMABAD: An eight-member team from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation on Wednesday completed the first part of a Pakistan visit to review security processes and arrangements at Karachi airport.
The team, led by Lead Inspector Mohammad Al-Ajami, during its visit to Karachi Airport carried out inspections of security arrangements in place by Pakistan’s national carrier, PIA, Gerry’s-Dnata, the world’s largest air services providers offering ground handling, the Airport Security Force (ASF) and Saudi Airlines.
“Saudia’s 8-member GACA aviation security delegation left Karachi today for Saudi Arabia after completing first leg of their visit,” Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement.
“The visiting inspectors observed different security processes related to securing passengers, cargo, catering and baggage at the airport.”
The inspectors examined passenger pre-boarding, non-passenger screening, hold baggage screening, CCTV systems and restricted area access among other security measures enforced at Jinnah International Airport Karachi.
“The delegates after completing the inspection expressed satisfaction with the implementation of security systems and made few recommendations to the CAA to be considered for the future,” the statement said.
The GACA’s security delegation will return to Pakistan on June 13 to begin the second leg of inspections at Lahore, Sialkot, Multan, Islamabad and Peshawar airports.
