JEDDAH, 24 January 2003 — The final roster for new year specials to all basketball aficionados in town from Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and Philippine Basketball League (PBL) for two days exhibition games on Jan. 30-31 (Thu & Fri) at Al-Ittihad gym. The very first time in the Kingdom the Saudi Companies Basketball Association (SCBA) who organized this 4th basketball tournament 2003 spearheaded by Talat Alam, Boy Teves, Vener Torres, Lino Yamson & Edd Reyta to invite professional players for its grand opening day from PBA, PBL, American players from NCAA, The best Center in Asia & Saudi national team players & superstars, Zenegal slum dunk champion & Zaire professional player.
Our main attraction at 9:00 p.m. roster from PBA “The Tank” Noli Locsin, “D speedy” Kenny Evans, “left handed gunner” Peter Naron & “the veteran shooter” Noynoy Falcasantos, the PBL slum dunk champion Romel Caneleta & Gerald Ortega with Jeddah selection John Gatchalian, Roger Pineda, Dante Rivero, Frankie Lastimoso, Jong Rapada, Alvin Serrano, Ronald Batarao, Ricky Camaniag & Omeng Sahagun to be mentored by a veteran coach Boy Corsega while for Saudi superstars Ali Maghrabi, Ali Tori, Charli Ahmed, Othman Obaid, Sori Jakiti, Fahad Al-Radhi, Adel Jehani, Abdullah Abu Saleem, Ahmad Samantar, Fawaz Qassas,Turki Al-Turki & Elsr Jo under coach Ali Sanhani the former Saudi national team captain & coach of Ittihad club.
The game opener at 7:00 p.m. will be Jeddah All Stars University Team comprising Mahmmod Al-Towal, Talal Al-Khateeb, Saud Quaidi, Waleed Khattab, Ahmed Al-Essa, Amre Hamdi, Ghassan Tashkindi, Mohammad Haji, Salem Bahashwan, Otman Barnawi, Mostapha Hawsawii & Hashim Fotawi against Jeddah All Stars Aaron Mayo, April Mabarit, Arthur Oliva, Nerry Lacuata, Leo Almoite, Jun Mabarit, Dindo Garces, Jeff Liwag, Nap Solis, Barry Nader, D. Salazar, Boy Rapada, Alen Nang & Tony Sobrepena to be coached by a young & talented mentor Trox Olsem with Mike Ali team adviser.
Thirty-two (32) teams in total are expected to parade on the grand opening day (Fri) at 5:00 p.m. The teams are divided in five divisions, (Inter-Commercial with two class B players) Jeddah Slasher, Al-Naghi (LG), Ajwa, Brutos, Jeddah Cable, Giordano Fashions & King Fahad Naval Base, (Open Non Rated) MODA, Sharbatly, Sete, Jeddah Graphics, Nissan, KFAH & Al-Rajhi-Dr. Baksh Hospital, (Inter-Supermarket) Al-Raya Supermarkets, Giant Store, Watani Super Center, Sawary Superstores, Panda Azizia & Marhaba, (Inter-School) International Philippine School in Jeddah–IPSJ, Beotat Jeddah International School –BJIS, American International School -AIS, Ettehad International School –EIS, Jeddah International School -JIS, Thamer International School -TIS, Al-Manarat School & Al-Andalus School, (Open Rated) American, Lebanese, Saudi & Filipino team.
