Nearly 5 million Captagon pills seized by Saudi security forces in Riyadh

RIYADH: Nearly 5 million Captagon pills were seized by security forces in Riyadh, Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

The spokesman for the General Directorate for Narcotics Control, Major Muhammad Al-Nujaidi, said the 4,962,000 amphetamine tablets were hidden in a shipment of cables.

He added that a Syrian national had been arrested over the incident and preliminary legal measures were taken against him.

He has been referred to the Public Prosecution, SPA said.

The value of the pills was not disclosed, but according to global estimates the haul has a street value of nearly $70 million.
