Saudi Arabia lead Gulf in congratulating Rishi Sunak on becoming new UK PM

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has led the Gulf in congratulating Rishi Sunak on becoming the UK’s prime minister. 

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman sent a cable of congratulations to Sunak on his election as his country’s new prime minister.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also sent a cable to the new prime minister in which he expressed his sincere congratulations and best wishes for success. 

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also sent a message of congratulations to Sunak on the occasion of his election.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, dispatched a similar message of congratulations to Sunak. 

Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister,  expressed his best wishes of success to Sunak on his duties as Prime Minister.

Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah also sent a cable to Sunak, congratulating him on his appointment. 

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of congratulations to  Sunak.

Saudi ambassador meets Yemen detainee negotiating delegation

RIYADH: Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber met with a negotiating delegation concerned with detainees in the country on Thursday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

During the meeting in Riyadh, the ambassador commended the significant efforts by the negotiating team, which recently culminated in an agreement.

He also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s continued support for the complete release of all detainees, abductees and forcibly disappeared persons from all parties.

During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of completing implementation procedures, exchanging lists and records, and expediting the execution of the agreed mechanism for the exchange process.
