EgyptAir celebrates 90th anniversary in Jeddah

Egypt’s national airline EgyptAir recently celebrated its 90th anniversary in Jeddah, in the presence of a large gathering of guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, a group of Saudi leaders and officials from the aviation sector, customers, trade partners and staff in the region.

Guests at the InterContinental Hotel in Jeddah were received by Mohamed Abd El-Nabi, general manager of EgyptAir in Saudi Arabia; Saeed Abu Bakr, director general of finance, EgyptAir Jeddah; and Mohamed Abdel Wahab, director of EgyptAir Jeddah.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Consul General of Egypt in Jeddah Dr. Hisham Fathi Mustafa and was attended by various high-level officials from Saudi governmental agencies, including the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority, Jeddah Airports Company, Saudi Ground Services Company, Ports Projects Management and Development Company Lt., Public Security, and Passports and Customs Department at King Abdulaziz International Airport.

The 90th-anniversary celebration of Egypt Air was an occasion to reaffirm the company’s commitment to achieving its mission and acknowledge the contributions of its partners and employees to the airline’s success and thank them for their outstanding efforts during the COVID-19 crisis, which ensured the company’s sustainability and resilience amid the unprecedented challenges faced by the sector.

EgyptAir also presented honorary shields to some of the most prominent travel and tourism companies from across the Kingdom, in appreciation of their contribution to the company’s success during the past few years, which was a difficult time for all sectors of tourism and aviation in general.

Tarek Hegazy, regional director of EgyptAir Riyadh; Ahmed Khalaf, regional director of EgyptAir Dammam; and Hani Othman, regional director of EgyptAir Madinah; attended the event and represented EgyptAir’s regional offices in the Kingdom.

As part of the celebration, a documentary film about EgyptAir was aired, which reviewed the stages of development witnessed by the airline since its inception.

The flag carrier was established on May 7, 1932, as the first operating airline in the Middle East and Africa and the seventh airline in the world.
