Saudi ministry bans work under sun from June 15

  • Saudi ministry called on employers to organize working hours and implement the decision

RIYADH: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development on Sunday announced a three-month ban on working under the sun between noon and 3 p.m.

Employers must ensure their workers stay out of the sun from June 15 to Sept. 15, the ministry said in a statement.

The regulation comes within the framework of the ministry’s focus to protect the health of Saudi workers and its commitment to providing a safe working environment, in accordance with occupational health and safety considerations.

The ministry called on employers to organize working hours and implement the decision. Violations of the decision can be reported through the unified customer service number 19911 or through the ministry’s mobile app.

The decision comes as the ministry published the “procedure manual for health and vocational safety to prevent dangers of being subject to the sun and heat stress” on its website so that employers can ensure they apply the best practices.
