RIYADH: The Saudi Arabian Boy Scout Association is set to take part in competitions involving more than 2.5 million scouts from 170 countries around the world.
Starting Oct. 16, the 63rd World Jamboree On the Air (JOTA) and 24th World Jamboree On the Internet (JOTI) will take place over three days.
The association has prepared radio stations at its headquarters in Riyadh and in scout groups across the Kingdom for the events. It also prepared its information center for the world’s largest digital scout event, which promotes friendship and global citizenship over the airwaves.
Saleh Al-Harbi, the association’s secretary-general, said that the event receives the attention and support of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, and is important for generating goodwill towards the scouting movement.
He added that the event enhances scouting by promoting its principles in accordance with the youth’s needs and aspirations in today’s world. Al-Harbi said the educational event is open to scouts around the world, and will involve young people taking part in a dynamic program that discusses communications technology and the values of global citizenship.
