JEDDAH: There has been a visible decline in the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and of patients in critical condition,  the Ministry of Health has said.
“The most important factors that led to this are preventive measures, accessibility of services and the strength of our treatment services system,” said assistant minister of health and spokesman Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aly.
In most countries around the world, the reason increases happen is due to society, and mostly youth, not following preventive measures, he noted.
Al-Aly reminded anyone who has come into contact with an individual who has tested positive to stay put. “They must immediately isolate themselves and stay at home for 14 days.”
The Kingdom recorded 30 new COVID-19-related deaths on Thursday, raising the death toll to 3,785. There were 1,019 new cases reported in Saudi Arabia, meaning 311,855 people have now contracted the disease. There are 21,815 active cases, 1,582 of them in critical condition.
According to the Health Ministry, Makkah reported 96 of the new cases, while Riyadh recorded 56 and Jeddah 32. Of the new cases, 43 percent were females, 11 percent were children, and 83 percent were adults; the elderly made up 6 percent of the infections.
In addition, 1,310 more patients had recovered from coronavirus, bringing the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 286,255.
Saudi Arabia has conducted 4,913,924 PCR tests, with 63,265 carried out in the past 24 hours.
