DUBAI: The Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah has undergone surgery.
Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti minister of Amiri Diwan, said the emir had the "successful" operation on Sunday morning, the state-run KUNA news agency reported.
Kuwait said on Saturday that Sheikh Sabah had been admitted to hospital.
Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will temporarily exercise some of the ruling emir’s constitutional duties, KUNA said.
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman called the emir to check up on his health.
