Saudi Arabia’s KSRelief to provide food aid in Punjab for Ramadan

ISLAMABAD: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has launched a project to distribute 20,000 food baskets in Punjab, Pakistan’s most heavily populated province, during Ramadan.

The project’s inauguration ceremony in Islamabad was attended by Punjab Gov. Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, and the director of KSRelief in Pakistan, Khalid Al-Othmani.

The baskets will be distributed in 10 boroughs of Punjab in coordination with the local government, and will benefit around 120,000 people. One of the aims of the project is to reduce the need for people to gather at food outlets, thus helping to prevent the risk of spreading the coronavirus COVID-19.

Al-Maliki extended his best wishes to King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi people on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

“This project is an extension of the humanitarian projects that the Kingdom is providing through KSRelief, and supports the Kingdom’s efforts to help those in need everywhere,” he said.

Sarwar also thanked King Salman and the Crown Prince on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, noting that Saudi Arabia has been a staunch supporter of Pakistan throughout its existence.
