Saudi falconry festival takes off in Hafr Al-Batin

HAFR AL BATIN: The Hafr Al-Batin Falcon Festival kicked off on Thursday under the patronage of the Saudi Falcons Club. 

The organizing committee divided the 10-day festival into two phases. The first starts with the festival launch and features more than 3,000 falcons. 

The second phase from Feb. 27-29 includes exhibitions, folk and entertainment shows, and restaurants and cafes for people of all ages.

Hafr Al-Batin Gov. Prince Mansour bin Mohammed bin Saad said: “We will exert more efforts to turn Hafr Al-Batin into a destination for falcon fans, with an integrated season that covers all the events related to falcons.”

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent cables of condolences to Moroccan King Mohammed VI following the flash flood in the Moroccan coastal city of Safi that killed at least 37 people.

The African nation experienced heavy rain and snow over the weekend, and authorities have warned of similar conditions in the coming days.

King Salman expressed his deepest condolences to the king, the families of the deceased and people of Morocco.
