PESHAWAR: In a fresh bout of violence, three security personnel were martyred and another was wounded when militants mounted an attack on a security check post in Razmak, a scenic town in the North Waziristan tribal district, a security official said on Saturday.
The official, Naveed Khan, told Arab News that security personnel rushed to the site and cordoned off the area soon after the firing incident on Friday.
He added that no arrests were made in the ensuing search operations.
The volatile North Waziristan tribal district has experienced sporadic attacks by militants in recent weeks who still maintain their presence in some of the areas despite a massive operation launched by the military in 2014.
On July 27, at least six soldiers were martyred in a militant attack in the Mana Badam Shah area of Shawal tehsil.
Three weeks ago, terrorists also carried out attack at a security check post in Boya, a small town in North Waziristan, in which six persons, including four soldiers, suffered grievous injuries.
In the adjacent South Waziristan tribal district as well, three people, including two security personnel, were wounded in two separate incidents of violence on July 20.
Apart from direct attacks, militants often use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and remote controlled bombs to target security convoys.
