Bentley Continental GT makes Middle East debut

The eagerly anticipated all-new Bentley Continental GT has debuted in the Middle East following its global unveiling at the IAA Frankfurt in September. The third generation of the legendary, luxury Grand Tourer will tour the region over the next two months, visiting Bentley’s key Middle East and South Africa markets in a series of exclusive VIP events. This month, the all-new Continental GT has visited Abu Dhabi, the Dubai flagship showroom, and Kuwait, where it was displayed at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Cultural Center, before heading to Saudi Arabia where it was seen at events in Riyadh and Jeddah. In November and December, the tour will re-visit the UAE, and then move on to Oman.

The Nissan IMx, an all-electric crossover concept vehicle offering fully autonomous operation and a driving range of more than 600 kilometers, was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. The innovative concept vehicle provides a glimpse into the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, Nissan’s approach to changing how cars are powered, driven and integrated with society. It’s designed to strengthen the link between car and driver as a close, reliable partner that delivers a safer, more convenient and more enjoyable drive. By offering the ability to control the vehicle’s drive mode, the Nissan IMx aims to transform the everyday life of drivers.

Reigning Formula E Champion Lucas di Grassi and the Audi e-tron FE04 have performed a demo drive together with other teams in Rome to promote the electric racing series that will be held in Italy’s capital on April 14, 2018. The track layout for the premiere in Rome promises to deliver a race set in spectacular surroundings.  Following events in Asia, Africa, South and North America, the electric racing series will be holding its first European round of the new season in Rome before traveling on to Paris, Berlin and Zürich, and then back to North America.
Nissan will become the first Japanese automotive brand to compete in the all-electric FIA Formula E racing championship starting in 2018. The move to participate in the growing Formula E series gives Nissan a highly visible global platform. “As the ultimate expression of the thrill of instant acceleration and agile handling that’s at the heart of Nissan zero-emission driving, Nissan is going to electrify the Formula E championship,” said Daniele Schillaci, executive vice president of global marketing and sales.

Price cuts drive sales of Saudi-owned electric car

  • Lucid delivers more vehicles than expected as it prepares to launch luxury new Gravity SUV

RIYADH: The majority Saudi-owned electric car maker Lucid delivered more vehicles than expected in the past three months as price cuts helped boost demand.
The company delivered 2,394 cars from April to June 30, above analysts’ predictions of 1,940.

Lucid produced 3,838 vehicles in the first six months of 2024 and needs to make more than 5,162 cars by end of the year to meet its annual output forecast of 9,000. It made 8,428 cars in 2023.
“I think at this point everything is shaping for them to achieve that,” said Andres Sheppard, senior equity analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald. Lucid will produce and deliver more cars in the second half of the year because of the usual seasonal effects on the industry, he said.

Demand for electric vehicles has grown more slowly than expected pace in the past year, under pressure from high borrowing costs, economic uncertainties and consumer preference for hybrid alternatives.
Lucid and the market leader Tesla have responded by slashing prices and offering incentives such as cheaper financing options. Lucid, which is 60-per-cent owned by the Public Investment Fund, the Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, cut the price of its flagship Air model by 10 percent in February.
Its new Gravity SUV model, a rival for Tesla's Model X, goes into production this year and will cost about $80,000.
