Reports: Champions League final panic in Italy caused by prank

DUBAI: Italian media are reporting that the panic that swept through a screening of the Champions League final in Turin, Italy, on Saturday was caused by young men playing a prank.
Chaos was triggered in the piazza, leading to 1,500 injuries. It is reported that two people were seriously injured, including a child.
A loud sound panicked thousands of fans gathered in Piazza San Carlo to watch the match pitting Juventus against Real Madrid on giant TV screens. The source of the sound was not known.
A stampede ensued, with fans being trampled as they tried to flee. Most of the injured were treated for cuts and light contusions.
Italian media outlets, including Football Italia, have reported that the commotion began when a young man was seen in the square with his arms raised by his side wearing a backpack.
It is reported that he shouted something to the effect of being a suicide bomber, leading the crowd to run in all directions.
According to reports in the Italian media on Sunday night, two young men were interrogated by police and confessed to the prank.
