ISLAMABAD: Bollywood actor Imran Khan hilariously responded to repeated cases of misidentification as Pakistan’s prime minister-to-be on his official Instagram account.
“I guess I can no longer ignore the call to action. Gonna start drafting some policy outlines this week. I’ll keep you guys updated,” he wrote.
Accompanying a screenshot of an email sent to him by a Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaaf hopeful, the actor Khan’s message has taken the repeated confusion in jest.
“Successful leader takes right decision at right time. He recognizes true friends and supporters and selects faithful team members. Now it is a ten-year-long governance and I want to join your team on the very first day,” wrote the supporter in jolly pink font.
Khan, who has had roles in “I Hate Luv Stories” and “Delhi Belly,” has won a number of accolades for his work including from Filmfare and Stardust Awards. His last known acting role was in 2015. His Twitter and Instagram handles are his name and bare the verified blue check mark.
He also happens to be the nephew of Bollywood titan Aamir Khan. Just a few days back after Pakistan’s elections his uncle publicly denied rumors that he was invited to the next prime minister’s oath ceremony following whispers that the incoming PM’s official first day was going to be star-studded with A-listers from across the border.
With millions upon millions taking interest in the soon-to-be prime minister, there’s a strong possibility the case of mistaken identity is only just beginning for the thespian.
